1. Can you introduce yourself and share a brief background on your journey as a writer?

I am a storyteller whose voice captures the strength, complexity, and resilience of Black womanhood. Growing up surrounded by generations of strong women, I found inspiration in the stories shared at family gatherings—the whispered legacies, untold struggles, and quiet victories of those who came before. Writing has always been a space of reflection and liberation for me; a place to reimagine history and reclaim narratives left untold.

2. What inspired you to start writing, and what genres or themes do you focus on?

My writing journey began with reading black genre books and journaling as a child, which blossomed through neighborhood and family storytelling that led to crafting a novel that honors the complexities of family ties, generational trauma, and the enduring strength of Black women.

3. Can you highlight any notable achievements, books, or awards in your writing career?

None yet. The keyword being "yet." ;-)

4. How do your personal experiences, hobbies, or interests influence your writing?

My personal experiences and interest of learning about strong, Black women deeply influence my writing, shaping the way I see and interpret the world. Growing up in a community where storytelling was a cornerstone of connection, I learned early on that sharing stories wasn't just entertainment — it was survival, resistance, and legacy. This sense of preserving history through narrative heavily influences my approach to writing.

Reading the works of Black women authors like Toni Morrison and Alice Walker opened my eyes to the power of writing our own truths, even when they’re difficult. My interest in genealogy and researching ancestral histories has also played a role in my writing, as I explore the lives of those who came before me, piecing together stories that have been overlooked or forgotten.

In my free time, I love listening to old school R&B and gospel music — sounds that hold the weight of joy and sorrow in equal measure. These genres remind me of the ways art can carry a community’s pain while still celebrating its perseverance. That duality is something I try to capture in my writing: the balance of hardship and hope, loss and love.

5. What messages do you wish to share or impact do you hope your writing leaves on your readers?

Ultimately, my writing is my way of holding a mirror to our experiences and saying, “I see you. I hear you. Your story matters.”
